Hi my name is Sue Hearn,
and you have reached my home page. I am a
counsellor/psychotherapist and I work in Carlton an inner city suburb
in Melbourne. You may be new to the idea of counselling/psychotherapy
and wondering about how it might be helpful to yourself or someone you
know. Or you may just want to know about my background and my work and whether I
might be of service to you.
There are many reasons why
people come to see me. People often contact me when they are in crisis
about a personal issue and when their usual ways`
of coping and strategies have somehow failed them. Everyone goes
through difficult and distressing times at some stage in their life
-it’s a normal part of being human. Often people can turn to
their family or friends at these times, but sometimes that’s not
possible. It can be isolating and painful trying to cope with
things without someone to share the burden. People often find the
support of a counsellor or psychotherapist to be a great relief.
I work with individuals and
couples from all walks of life who are struggling with issues such as depression
and anxiety such
as panic attacks; conflict or tension in relationships,
overwhelming feelings of loss and grief, or the negative affects
of trauma, such as childhood sexual assault. I also see people who
want to explore their personal growth because they feel stuck in a rut
or pattern of behaviour that they want to change. Some people want an
opportunity to explore ways of understanding themselves and developing
personally so that they are free to live a satisfying life that reaches
their full potential.
If you come to see me, what
you say will be kept in confidence. My aim is to offer a safe and
non judgemental space so that you can talk freely and openly.
I provide supervision and debriefing
for those practitioners working in the human services field.
