About
In 2003 I began my private counselling and psychotherapy practice having spent 25 years working in the human services field including community foster care, family support and children services. Since 1995 I have worked as a counsellor/psychotherapist in a variety of organisations, including the Centre Against Sexual Assault, Drummond Street Relationship Centre and La Trobe University Student Counselling Services.
My academic background includes a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Human Services, La Trobe University 2002; Drummond Street Relationship Centre psychodynamically oriented theory and practice of couple counselling and therapy 2005; an Associate Diploma in Welfare Studies, RMIT 1983 and a Certificate in Applied Social Sciences, Swinburne 1979. In 2006 I commenced a Master in Psychoanalytic Studies at Deakin University of which I have currently deferred because of work commitments.
I am registered with PACFA the Psychotherapist and Counsellor Federation Australia and CAPAV the Counsellor and Psychotherapist Association Victoria. These professional bodies promote and set out standards for competent and safe professional counselling practice including standards of training, supervision of clinical work and ongoing professional development which improves the quality of counselling and psychotherapy provision to the community.

I consider the quality of my clinical work as a psychotherapist to be continually developing and evolving and constantly informed by new professional and personal learnings. Many things inform my clinical work, including my training, my own personal therapy and the regular supervision that I receive.
(see the 3 cornerstones to becoming a competent psychotherapist
