• Grief & Loss

There are so many reasons why people grieve - it’s a natural part of life. Death of a family member, friend or pet, loss of a pregnancy, fertility, parenting role, home, job, or a move to another state or country, all these things bring up feelings of grief.  Experiences of abuse and trauma such as sexual assault, even if it happened many years ago commonly bring up feelings of grief.

A current loss will often connect with past experiences of loss and grief and this can become overwhelming.  These past experiences may have never been given the time to adequately grieve or they may have not been acknowledged at the time.  Sometimes grief becomes complicated by other feelings such as guilt, and the feelings can become prolonged and leave you without a sense of moving on.

I have found in my work that grief inevitably will come up at some point and while it is painful to experience, it is often a relief for clients to express these difficult feelings.
